About this app

This lab lets high schoolers practice average and instantaneous rate of change using three real graphs: a car's miles-vs-gallons trip, Denver's hourly temperature data, and Moriah's walk-to-school distance graph. Students pick points, drag handles to draw secant lines, and rotate a slider to approximate a tangent line, then type in a slope and check it, with hints available for 20 points off a possible 100. A timer and score track progress, sound can be toggled, and progress saves on the device, making it suited to grades 9-12 working alone at a computer or tablet.
