What is Dabbled for Schools?
Dabbled for Schools is a K-12 platform where a teacher describes a small learning app in plain language and gets a working, self-contained web page back in about two minutes. Apps are organised into schools and classrooms, and students use them without accounts.
Do students need accounts?
No. A student joins a class through a link the teacher shares and picks a nickname. That nickname is the whole record: no name, no email address, no date of birth, no password, and nowhere in the product to enter one.
Does Dabbled for Schools collect student personal data?
It is built so that there is nothing to collect. A student record is a nickname, the school it belongs to, a token that recognises the same browser next time, and a recovery code a teacher can use to restore it. Every request to build an app is scanned for student personal data before anything is generated.
Is Dabbled for Schools FERPA compliant?
It holds very little that could be an education record, and what it holds belongs to the school. There are no names, grades or rosters imported from a student information system. The record is used only to run the product for the school, on the school's instructions, and is deleted when the school says so.
Is Dabbled for Schools COPPA compliant?
Students never create accounts, and the product never asks a child for a name, an email address, a birthday, a photograph or a location. Because there is nothing to collect from a child, there is no parental consent to obtain for collection that does not happen.
Is there advertising or third-party tracking?
No advertising, no ad-tech, no data brokers, no third-party analytics. Page views are counted on our own server, without cookies and without knowing who you are. The only third-party request a page makes is for its typeface.
What AI does it use, and what does the AI see?
The model is Anthropic's Claude, reached through Anthropic's API. Content sent to it is not used to train models. It never sees a student's name, because the product holds none. The model suggests and writes; a person, the teacher, decides what gets built, kept and published.
How much does it cost?
Teachers, tutors and parents working on their own use it free. A school subscribes: Starter is $199 a month for 20 teacher accounts, School is $499 a month for 60, and District is invoiced annually at negotiated pricing for unlimited teachers across every school. Generating apps uses usage credit, called coins: a personal account gets a monthly allowance, and a school buys what it uses.
Can I use it without a school?
Yes. A teacher, tutor or parent can set up a free account and build apps on their own. Apps made in a personal workspace are shared to the public library, where anyone can use them without an account.
What kinds of apps can teachers make?
Small, self-contained web pages: a fractions game, a vocabulary quiz, a lab simulation, a timed practice drill, a sorting activity. A teacher can attach reference material, a lesson plan or a worksheet, and the app is built from it. The public library shows real examples.
Do I need to know how to code?
No. A teacher describes what they want in a sentence or two. The platform asks a clarifying question if it needs one, checks the request, and writes the app. Anyone can change an app afterwards by describing the change.
Is it accessible?
An accessibility conformance report (VPAT) for the platform is published, section by section against WCAG, and says where it conforms and where it does not yet.
