Use Dabbled from ChatGPT or Claude
Add Dabbled for Schools to your assistant and plan apps there: describe what you want, hand over a worksheet or a picture, and the draft appears on your Create page with every setting filled in. You review it and press Generate here. Nothing is built or charged from the assistant.
The address to connect
Both assistants ask for one thing, the connector's address. It is the same for everyone:
https://edtech.dabbled.ai/mcpWhen you connect, the assistant sends you here to sign in and choose the school or workspace the apps should go to. Drafts land there and, when you generate them, are charged there.
Connect in Claude
- Open Settings, then Connectors, on claude.ai or in the desktop app.
- Choose Add custom connector and paste the address above. The name can be anything; "Dabbled" is fine.
- Claude opens Dabbled. Sign in if asked, pick where the apps should go, and press Allow.
- Back in Claude, start a chat and say what you want to make. The Dabbled tools appear in the chat's tool list.
Using Claude Code in a terminal instead? claude mcp add --transport http dabbled https://edtech.dabbled.ai/mcp does the same, and the sign-in opens in your browser.
Connect in ChatGPT
- Open Settings, then Connectors. Connectors you add yourself need Developer mode switched on, under Advanced.
- Choose Create. Give it a name, paste the address above as the MCP server URL, and set authentication to OAuth.
- ChatGPT opens Dabbled. Sign in if asked, pick where the apps should go, and press Allow.
- In a new chat, enable the Dabbled connector for that conversation and ask for an app.
ChatGPT reads the list of tools when it connects. If Dabbled gains a tool and ChatGPT does not show it, disconnect and connect the connector again.
What the assistant can do
- Learn what builds well. It can ask Dabbled for the kinds of app, the outline a good description follows, the grade levels and features on the Create page, and what your school already has, then do the thinking itself.
- Save a draft. Your description, with the kind, grade level, subject and features already chosen. It opens on your Create page with every control set.
- Attach what the app is built from. A lesson plan, a worksheet, a reading, notes, as text or a file: PDF, Word, text, Markdown, or a photo, which is read into text. Up to six pieces, each with a note on how to use it.
- Add pictures for the app to show. A character, a background, an icon, a diagram students will see. Up to twelve, each with a line saying what it is.
- Change a saved draft, and tell you where each draft is: saved, waiting for your answers to a build's questions, building, finished.
- Answer a build's clarifying questions for you, when you have started one here.
What it cannot do
- Build the app. Generating is the one step that costs your school, so it stays a button you press, on the Create page, after reviewing what the assistant drafted. Every result the assistant gets carries the link to that page.
- Change, publish, hide or delete apps you already have.
- Touch billing, classrooms, rosters or people, or see anyone's drafts but yours.
- See students. No student data passes through an assistant, in either direction.
Things to try
- "Save a Dabbled draft for a 4th-grade fractions quiz, with hints and a timer, ten questions, pizza pictures."
- "Attach this worksheet to that draft and tell the builder to use only the word list on page 2."
- "Add this image to the draft as the hero character, facing right, transparent background."
- "What drafts do I have waiting in Dabbled?"
Then open the link the assistant gives you, look the draft over, and press Generate. Your drafts are also listed on your Apps page.
Your account and your data
The assistant acts as you, in the one school or workspace you picked when you connected. It can pick another only if you belong to it too. Connections expire after ninety days of disuse, and you can end one at any moment from your profile, under Connected assistants; the assistant's access stops on the spot.
What you type to the assistant goes to the assistant's maker under their terms, as it always does. What the assistant sends to Dabbled, the description and the attachments, is treated exactly as if you had typed or uploaded it on the Create page. The privacy policy covers the rest.
If something is off
- The assistant says it attached something and the draft shows nothing. Ask it what is on the draft; it can list the attachments and will say what actually arrived. Reconnecting the connector refreshes its tools.
- "Image uploads aren't set up on this server yet." Image storage is not configured on this installation; reference material still works as text.
- A draft you expected is not on the Create page. Check the Drafts section of your Apps page in the school or workspace you connected; the assistant may have saved it to a different one.
