About this activity
Students explore a school-themed map to learn English vocabulary by seeing, hearing, and choosing words, then review what they remember with flashcards
Who is English Explorer: School Day for?
Designed for Russian-speaking students who are just beginning to learn English, working independently and needing heavy visual and native-language support.
What does English Explorer: School Day teach, and how?
It teaches everyday school vocabulary (classroom items, things teachers say, people, places, reading) through a five-step loop: see a picture, hear the English word spoken aloud, read an understanding prompt in Russian, choose or build the answer, then repeat it aloud. A notebook stores learned words by category with audio, translations and a star-to-practice feature, and a review round at the end checks recall of recently learned items.
How is success measured in English Explorer: School Day?
Progress is shown through a non-competitive English Power level rather than scores, with a review screen asking students to recall recent words and confirm with an I remember button; wrong answers get gentle retry feedback instead of marks or red flags.
How long does English Explorer: School Day take, and what does it need?
Each location session is short, mixing a handful of challenge types plus a quick review, and needs only a Chromebook with sound for text-to-speech audio; there is a slow-replay option and a persistent help button for extra support, and progress saves locally in the browser.
