About this activity
Students build touch-typing accuracy, speed, and fluency with punctuation, numbers, and symbols by typing lines to defeat enemies across a five-zone fantasy campaign.
Who is TypeQuest Typing Adventure for?
Designed for grades 6-12, this suits students who already know the keyboard and want to build typing accuracy and speed through structured, game-like practice rather than a first introduction to typing.
What does TypeQuest Typing Adventure teach, and how?
Students choose a hero class, then type displayed words, phrases, or sentences to fill an action meter and trigger attacks across themed zones that progress from basic words to capitalization, symbols, longer sentences, and a final mixed-skill boss. Difficulty adjusts live, missed keys resurface later, and an optional on-screen keyboard highlights the target key.
How is success measured in TypeQuest Typing Adventure?
Success is measured by accuracy, streaks, words per minute, and an accuracy shield earned at 97% or higher, with a combo meter, focus bonus for clean streaks, and score shown live. A Quest Report after each session shows overall accuracy, WPM, best streak, improvement, keys to practice, and campaign progress.
How long does TypeQuest Typing Adventure take, and what does it need?
Each zone takes roughly 8 to 12 minutes with several encounters leading to a boss, and progress autosaves on the device so students can resume later. It needs a keyboard, has a sound toggle, and respects reduced-motion preferences; no partner or teacher setup is required.
